Taken from Exploring the Early Americas exhibit, this bookmark depicts a detail image from a section of one of the most historical documents created of early America. Dubbed "America's Birth Certificate," the Martin Waldseemuller's 1507 World Map is based on Amerigo Vespucci's voyages to 1501-1502 to the New World, and is the first map to depict the newly found American landmass.
